4/25/08 08:55 am - kids again

Lost one of the kids. The little white died yesterday. I guess she just wasn't strong enough. She was the runt after all. The little gray one (my favorite) is a girl and the black one is a boy. I need to take some pictures. There is really nothing so cute as a new born kid. It's hard to believe that they're already prancing around and playing.

4/24/08 01:49 pm - Kids...and I do mean kids

Well, we had a little shocker this Monday. One of our little (as in tiny) female goats gifted us with kids...3 of them. As small as she was I was only expecting 1 kid. They are adorable. I haven't checked their genders yet. Coloring...1 white with a black strip down her back, 1 black with white ears and (my personal favorite) 1 gray with a little bit of black and white on it.

Going to daytrip Beltaine this weekend. We're meeting up with my sister Jessica and her family. I can't wait until Sunday. We're planning a trip to the zoo. Meredith loves the zoo! Truthfully...so do I. :)

4/1/08 10:16 am - April Fools

Happy April Fools Day!!!

We got my boss good this morning. We, her entire team of 11, called in sick today. We had a security guard warn us when she entered the building. Then we went and hid in a conference room. Everyone one on our floor was in on it...including the other Supervisors and her Manager. They left a note explaining that when she (Richela) got in, she needed to see one of the other supervisors immediately. I thought she was going to kill us when they finally took her into the conference room. We took a collection floor-wide for change and will be buying her lunch today. She's so easy to mess with. I love it.

2/26/08 09:50 am - kids

Well I've got to kids now...baby goats that is.

Prancer dropped Sunday night around 12:30. She had 2 but so far only the little male has survived. Not too bad since she miscarried her first pregnancy last year. We're having a problem getting her to let the kid feed. He's a little weak but seems to be holding on. We're having to hold her still so he can suckle. Otherwise she'll more away or lie down. I tried bottle feeding him last night but he refuses the nipple. I guess it just doesn't feel like mom.

The real kicker came when I was feeding all the goats last night. We're up to (not including the new babies) 3 males and 6 females. It was dark and I heard this little mewing noise. Looked over and found a little baby goat. A little female just a bit bigger than the new floppy eared male kid. At first I thought that Prancer had given birth to triplets but that's rare. Turns out that Prancer's mom, Bangs had given birth to the little female. She's much healthier than the other one. Bangs always did have good kids :). Sorry about the pun. I couldn't resist.

They both cute as can be. Black bodies with white and black speckled ears. The only noticeable difference between them (not counting weight) is that the male has floppy ears and a white slash down his side while the female has straight ears and a white tuft of hair on her forehead.

So now I have to little kids and my co-workers are back to calling me the goat lady. Oh well.

2/14/08 09:09 am - Interesting V-day

It's starting out to be a very interesting Valentines Day. A co-worker came by in a complete panic to see me as soon as I walked in the door. Apparently her rat terrier brought a baby rabbit home at 3am. It's not hurt but it's too young. I don't have the time to raise it-what with work and school. Anyway I have 6 cats and 3 dogs that would love to have baby rabbit on the lunch menu. The Humane Society in LR referred me to a vet that does rescue work for rabbits and other small wild animals. I'm taking it over during lunch. I had to head that way anyway to run some errands. It's a cute little thing but scared *duh* It seems to be perfectly fine so I hope it will make it. Poor Leslie was so upset about the possibility of it dying. I wouldn't like it but I understand more about little cute cuddly forest creatures and what happens when they meet up with hunting house pets. So far this year I've had to deal with 3 full grown bluejays (alive in the house) and a field mouse (dead in the house). I can't wait for summer. My personal master (better known as my cat Puck) usually gifts me with at least 1 mouse, 1 lizard and 1 garter snake per summer.

It's also freezing at work today.

2/12/08 08:46 am - Jessica

Okay. So far the baby is going to be named Paul Fitzhugh Long. Personally I'm iffy on the Fitzhugh. I approve of the name Paul in this case. Yes, it's a little plain given my family's taste. Mark had a younger brother who was killed named Paul. Mark doesn't talk about it much. Jessica saw some pictures and said that Paul was a hottie. Maybe my nephew will pick up on that too.

2/1/08 03:44 pm - Jessica

I just got the call. Jessica is having a boy. My niece Meredith had it right from the start. Yeah, my first nephew. I can't wait.

10/16/07 11:50 am - yea, midterms over

Midterms are finally over!!! Now I just have to worry about my psychology term paper and finals. Funny, I'd love school even more if there were no tests. :)

Got a stupid speeding ticket last week. Stupid cop already had someone else pulled over at the time. Got me passing someone in a passing zone no less. Jerk.

At least I have Halloween to look forward to. Don't have my costume done yet. This is running really late for me. I usually have it all done by the last of September at the latest.

Ok, back to work...no more rambling for me.

10/11/07 07:56 am - busy, busy, busy

Too much has been going on lately to post. Sorry. I'm trying to do better about posting on a regular bases.

Maggie's puppies are up and running . They've hit that playful time and are attacking anything that's around them. The little boy has a cute playful growl and bark. He's the adventurous one. My favorite is the chicken of the group. We call her whiner. She has this cute but pathetic whine when she's along or being picked on or hungry or not getting attention...beginning to see the pattern. The only time she didn't whine is when we gave her a bath, which was odd. She seemed to really enjoy it. She just sat down in the sink and laid her head on the rim. I know she enjoyed the cuddling afterwards.

Someone dropped off a kitten at our house about a week ago. Little female, long black and white hair. She's very friendly and likes to chest/neck sit. We've named her Gracie after Gracie Allen. That cat is such a clumsy thing, sometimes. I keep asking her "How was charm school today, Grace." She loves to play with the puppies. Too bad we're not keeping them. I'd love to keep whiner.

Dad had cataract surgery yesterday. He's so ready for the eye patch/bandage to be off. Says it itches.

Had my history midterm yesterday. Think I did okay, depends on how he grades. Last test made a 58/60. So I'm not too worried. Unfortuantelly I have my first test in psychology TODAY and I couldn't study last night. I kept falling asleep and I couldn't comprehind what I read. So now I'm stressing about that. Yeah. Wish me luck. I'm going to have to cram at lunch and the hour I have before class starts. I might just take off a little early. I do know that the only thing I'm doing when I get home is sleeping. I've been averaging about 3 1/2 hours a night. I'm so tired I'm suprised I haven't had a car wreck on the hour drive it takes to get to work. Anyway, I'm off. I'll post later...promise, really I will. :)

9/10/07 10:15 am - What a shock

Ya'll won't believe this but Maggie, my annoying fox terrier/chihuahua, had puppies. This normally wouldn't be such a shock except that she's fixed! I'm going to be having words with the vet that's for sure.

I noticed that she was putting on a bit of weight a couple of weeks ago. I thought she looked pregnant, but Mom insisted that since she was fixed that she was just getting fat. Well, apparently sometime yesterday she crawled under the Parental Units’ bed and dug herself out some room to make a den. I went in around 11 pm to use the bathroom and she started barking at me. This was definately not her friendly bark either! I was being warned off. She wouldn’t come to me or Mom or Dad when we called her. So I got down on the floor with a flashlight and took a look. I was planning on dragging her out with force but I saw a couple of little wiggly things and realized that “Great Scott” she had spawned. It looks like we have 2 girls and a boy. They look like her from what we can tell. White with black spots.

I think Mom is planning of calling Dr. Brown and yelling at him. She was after all fixed by him and ended up pregnant. Morrilton, AR definitely should outlaw vet practice in that town. The other town vet told me when I was in high school that my cat was a boy, retaining water and had a heart mummer. He gave me some meds to force down HER throat, which SHE did not appreciate at all. Turns out Sir Nibbs was actually Lady Nibbs in disguise and that heart mummer was the sound of her 8 kittens! Another shock.

7/18/07 08:18 pm - MAC...MAC...MAC...MAC...YEA!!!

I just got my MAC back from having the hard drive replaced. Now I have to remember how to use a MAC instead of a PC. It's driving me nuts right now but it's worth it having a computer that's wireless and faster than anything else in the house. :)

6/21/07 01:21 pm

Well, I thought I'd drop a line or two to let everyone know I'm still alive and kickin'.

As far as news goes, I've just registered for the fall semester at UALR. I'm taking psychology and us history after 1776. I'm excited about going back to school.

My high school reunion is this Saturday. It should be interesting. Almost everyone is either married or has kids or both. I think I'll just corrupt their kids while the parents aren't looking. Revenge for all the teasing in high school.

Mom has retired and is currently in Missouri spoiling the grandbaby. In theory, she'll come home Friday. That will make it two weeks that she' been gone on vacation. The week before she was with Jessica and Mark at Lilies War. She went up to keep an eye on Meredith and the dog, George. Did I mention that Jessica finally got a dog? She was able to talk Mark into it. George is a tall lanky black german shepard. He's still mostly puppy. He came from a rescue shelter. He's great with Meredith, doesn't try to eat the cat, likes Jessica and absolutely adores Mark. He also plays well with other dogs and people.

We have another baby goat. A little male named Yoda. He's not very friendly, like our other ones. He's more standoffish. I think we scarred him for life when we checked to see if he was a boy or a girl :). We're going to sell him anyway. We don't need anymore males. We had to fix our big guy to keep him from getting his daughter and granddaughter pregnant. He's not nearly as aggressive now but he still leads the herd just fine.

Also, I'm going on a family vacation in November. We're going to Disney World :) I haven't been there since the age of 5.

That's it for now. Sorry about the rambling. I haven't gotten a whole lot of sleep the past few nights. I'm going to play catch up tonight.

3/6/07 12:39 pm - This weekend

Well, I'm excited about this weekend. I'm driving up to MO to visit my sister and her family and to meet Rob for the first time. He's a SCA friend of Mark and Jessica's. We've been talking for 4 weeks now. I cann't wait. He's such a smart guy and so fun to talk to. He's a complete tease like I am. It should be interesting. He wants to take me to see "300". I'm looking forward to it.

I thought I'd post a little note. Yes I'm still alive. The rumors of my demise are untrue. Or not. Sometimes I'm not sure...especially first thing in the morning.

Not much is going on. Dad's doing better. He's a pint low on blood. The doctors can't say why. He's got an upper GI scheduled for tomorrow.

Mom has decided to retire in June because of her Shmuck of a boss. She's totally stress out because of him.

Jessica finally got a dog. He's a black german shepherd mix from a rescue group. His name is George. She's thrilled. Meredith is already trying to teach him to lay down where she tells him. He's supposed to be good with other animals, people and children. He's also house broken.

11/6/06 01:48 pm - Dad's by-pass & car problems

I'm still tired but at least I'm more at ease. Dad got a private room at Baptist Hosp. last night. He's sore from being moved out of ICU and having some drain tubes removed but okay otherwise. We're hoping he can come home Wednesday or Thursday. Mom and I are threatening to pull all the spark plugs out of the cars and hide the keys when he recoveries enough of his strength to start getting restless. He's not supposed to be driving for quite a while.

I also forgot to mention...Thursday, the night before Dad's surgery, my car broke down again. I managed to get half way home before a broke another belt. At least it's a different belt then last time. I had to have my car towed into LR after Dad got out of surgery Friday. It's been complete crazy/insane. The dealership is having to order the parts for me. Part, labor and towing I'm looking at another $660 on my car. I'll be able to get the money I paid for the towing back. Mom and I just got some insurance that covers towing costs (just in time too).

That's all for now. I'll post again after I see Dad tonight if anything has changed. ^_^

11/5/06 12:24 am - Dad's surgery

Dad's bypass went great. The surgeon only had to do a triple instead of a quadruple bypass. They expected the surgery to take about 4-5 hours and actually finished in 2hrs and 45 minutes. I didn't get to see him yesterday when they were done with him, but Mom did for about 15 minutes. She spent the night at the hospital and sent me home to take care of the animals. I didn't sleep well last night, probably because I didn't get to see him. I mean, technically, I knew he was doing okay, but I needed to see for myself. I got to see and talk to him today. They're giving him Darvacet for the pain and he's funny when he drifts from awake to asleep to awake. He keeps having weird dreams. He didn't feel like eating breakfast or lunch. Joel (a majorly hot nurse) said that was normal. They sat him in a chair for dinner and let Mom stay with him even though it was a little after visitation hours. I like Joel. He's nice with a calm soothing voice. Too bad he's married. Oh well. Dad's scheduled to be moved to a private room tomorrow. I'm glad. I'm not going to be able to get Mom home until then. She needs some decent sleep. Even Dad asked me to try to talk some sense into her. Like that's possible where he's concerned...HA!!! Sigh. I'm off to bed. Everyone has been feed (goats, dogs, cats, ferret)but me. So small dinner and then sleep. I think I'll be able to sleep tonight.

11/1/06 09:58 pm - Mac

Found out what was wrong with the Mac laptop. Hard drive is shot. Someone shot me, please! My iPod won't show up on my old laptop so now I can't download any new audio books to it. I'm stuck listening to Feet of Clay, Night Watch, Masquerade, The Last Continent and Reaper Man. Not that I don't love Terry Pratchett's Disc World but I've heard these 5 books about 9 times each already. I WANT NEW ONES!!!!! I'm going to have to get the Mac fixed. If I send it off to Apple it's going to cost like $320 but they said that if they find anything else wrong that they fixed that for free, so I guess that not to bad.

They really need to put a bloody Apple store in LR!!! I don't like having to drive all the way to Memphis just to tell me that my hard drive is shot and that they can't help me.

11/1/06 09:48 pm - Dad's Health

Dad's surgery was canceled this morning. The doctor (who is supposed to be the best in LR) had to do an emergency surgery on a women who can in. We don't think the poor woman made it. They've released Dad and he's due to go back to the hospital Friday morning. Jessica is coming down tomorrow and then driving back Friday night because Mark is supposed to fight in Crown List this weekend. Mom and I came home and crashed. We'd only managed to get about 2 hours of sleep last night before getting up at 4:30 am to drive the hour it takes to get back to LR. Mom probably should have stayed at the hospital with Dad but she wanted to pick somethings up for Dad and there was just to many items that I had no clue where they were at. I'm going to go see about spending 1/2 hour picking up my room before crashing again. I don't know if Jessica is going to stay here at the house or with Chris in LR but at least my room won't be too bad if she stays here. I need to work 10 hours tomorrow to catch up on work especially since it looks like I'll be out Friday now. Drat! I couldn't have gone in today anyway, even after finding out Dad's surgery was canceled. 1.) I was wearing jeans which isn't allowed except on Fridays and 2.) I was so tired there was no possible way I could have paid any medical claims correctly. ^_^

10/31/06 11:29 pm - Dad's Health

Bad News! Mom called me at work today. Dad had a doctor's appointment because he's been having chest pains again. They've admitted him to Baptist Hospital in LR. He's scheduled to have a quadruple bypass tomorrow morning. TALK ABOUT A SHOCK!!!! The doctor says he should be fine, but that it is still a very serious surgery. It was all I could do not to knock on his forhead and say "Hello, anyone home? I process medical claims from Blue Advantage/Blue Cross Blue Shield." I know how serious this is. I'm not a complete idiot!!! I just bit my tongue and counted to twenty-five. Jessican is driving down tomorrow morning. Mark is going to stay home with Meredith. I'll post how Dad did as soon as I can, hopefully tomorrow night. I'll most likely be at the hospital all day with Mom tomorrow, but someone has to come home and feed the horde of hungry animals.

10/5/06 07:55 am - Car

I got my car back yesterday. Pretty good service. Only took them 1 day to fix it and they stayed at the estimated price of $925.81. Can't really ask for more than that I guess.
